Wayfinding for
the fast lane

At Oran Park Podium, wayfinding connects past and present, honouring the racetrack legacy of a shopping centre’s location and leading the way for a new community.

Diadem created a comprehensive signage and wayfinding system for Oran Park Podium, encompassing external identity, car park navigation and internal retail wayfinding. Inspired by the site’s motorsport history, the design incorporates flowing graphic elements and colour-coded zones to enhance clarity, connection and a strong sense of place.

From racetrack
to retail

Oran Park Podium is at the heart of a fast-growing residential and commercial precinct in Sydney’s south-west, offering a diverse mix of retail outlets, dining options and entertainment experiences. Formerly the site of the renowned Oran Park Raceway, the location carries a rich motorsport legacy dating back to 1962.

Diadem was engaged to deliver a signage and wayfinding system that was both functional and future-proofed. It would need to support multiple touchpoints, from the car park to internal walkways, while embedding a strong identity shaped by the site’s unique past.

Legacy
in motion

Diadem’s strategic approach for the precinct’s signage balanced functionality with storytelling. This came to life most significantly in the car park, which was divided into five distinct zones aligned with the vehicle brand colours and extending from the basement car park columns through to the retail entry escalators at ground level.

These zones were supported by environmental graphics applied via printed vinyl and stencils, including sweeping forms drawn from the racetrack’s outline and high-energy, large-scale illustrations that celebrated various forms of motorsport.

Design for
the road ahead

Diadem’s signage suite was delivered across three core groupings: external precinct and tenant signage (including major supermarkets), car park identification, and internal retail wayfinding. Large-scale illustrations serve as hero elements throughout, creating visual impact while supporting intuitive navigation.

The result is a seamless and distinctive wayfinding experience that not only strengthens the identity of Oran Park Podium, but also contributes to the growth of a thriving new community in Sydney’s western suburbs through an evocative retail experience embedded with local pride.
