Retail experience
for a retail leader

Mirvac’s retail division manages some of Australia’s most successful shopping centres, including Broadway – Australia’s highest-trading shopping centre on a revenue per square metre basis.

Safeguarding the value of these sites, the integrity of the brand, and ultimately the ease of the customer experience, Diadem continues to deliver.

Modern wayfinding
for a heritage icon

With a redevelopment of the Broadway retail centre, a new strategy to aid customer navigation was needed. Mirvac engaged Diadem to deliver an elegant and intuitive wayfinding solution.

Diadem designed the signage by drawing some inspiration from the crown of Queen Elizabeth II, who visited the site in 1954. The suite’s warm hues work in harmony with the centre’s colour palette.

The design subtly references the heritage of the building while adding clarity to how users navigate the space today, increasing circulation in the process. The project’s tight 10-week deadline was met on budget.

“Mirvac is exceptionally pleased with what you have delivered for us at Broadway – the design is bold and unique and meets our brief perfectly. We have received numerous compliments about the signage from our senior executives, co-owner and industry peers. It certainly sets a new standard for wayfinding signage across Mirvac’s retail portfolio.

Further, we can’t thank you enough for delivering this project in record time so that it was complete for our grand opening. We didn’t think it was possible, but Diadem rose to the challenge and delivered this in a seamless and professional manner.”

Stellar design
for seamless navigation

Orion Springfield Central in Ipswich is both a major shopping and cultural precinct, with various amenities alongside shops that welcome the whole family.

The centre’s existing wayfinding suite left users discontent and created poor impressions. Recognising the need for change, Mirvac engaged Diadem to design an efficient new signage suite.

Patron complaints have fallen to zero since implementation. The signs themselves employ an elegant purple colour palette, delivering the premium aesthetic Mirvac hoped to achieve. The geometric form of the signage references Orion’s Belt, after which the centre was named.

Who’s a
good boy

As well as a comprehensive update of the shopping centre wayfinding, Mirvac engaged Diadem to improve Orion’s new dog park. Part of the brief was to activate Main Street, which runs through the centre.

Diadem identified an opportunity to create a bespoke placemaking device. The result? A 3.2-metre tall pink dog named Sirius, with a unique geometric façade inspired by Orion’s Belt.

Sirius has created additional visitation as a beacon for families, an easy-to-spot navigation point and an instantly Instagrammable experience.
