Creating a
kit of parts

When the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) embarked on a new retail brand look, the big four bank was yet to resolve the material, construction methods or industrial designs for its family of signs.

The bank turned to Diadem, as the task ahead was significant. CBA needed a partner to develop the technical specifications for branch and ATM signage across 800 branches.

Diadem’s brief was to develop a new signage kit of parts, provide sustainable cost savings, and deliver high-quality outcomes. A brand signage standards document needed to be produced, setting the standard for future brand refurbishments.

Ensuring
design integrity

Working from concepts created by Moon Communications, Diadem collaborated with CBA’s retail design division to develop the external signage suite for the national network.

With sign tooling carried out in China, and robust tender specifications, Diadem was able to reduce CBA’s cost structure by 30%. Under Diadem’s eye, the project delivered installations of high quality and consistency.

Prototypes were developed from detailed specifications, and a kit of parts manual was produced. This has since guided the rollout of CBA’s next generation of retail stores as the bank continues to enhance customer experience.
