An underutilised public space needed to activation to engage people.
A dining destination
Craigieburn Central is a shopping centre located in Melbourne’s south-east corridor. Located in the heart of Craigieburn, the centre is a destination to meet and relax with friends and family. And of course, that means restaurants.
With an impressive collection of shopping stores, the centre also boasts a mix of fresh food, restaurants and cafes.
The Craigieburn Central Square – a new dining precinct in the centre – was struggling to draw people to the area. The corner dining area was a public space that wasn’t being fully utilised and needed activation.
The area was a casual dining space within the new centre that was hard for pedestrians to identify which means the area was not being utilised – an issue that the centre identified after the build was completed and the food tenancy’s commenced operating.
External graphics application
Diadem was selected to provide a solution to the issue. To ensure more people identified and utilised the space, we needed to show a visual cue to pedestrians as to what the space was about – we needed to lift the external space with a graphic application.
A combination of graphic and light box application was used. The graphic was sign written to the wall as it was textured so we could not apply vinyl to this space.
