When a new development brings a new look and feel to an existing space, it’s important to connect the two. Our challenge was to connect a vibrant new precinct to an existing centre and stay on brand…
A market-style precinct
As a part of a $51m expansion to their Colonnades Shopping Centre, Vicinity Centres wanted to create a vibrant and inspiring new shopping experience for consumers. Nestled in Adelaide’s southern suburbs, the development is the most significant in over a decade, marking the addition of new retail and lifestyle options for the surrounding community.
The market style precinct invites customers into a fresh food precinct with supermarkets, speciality shops and alfresco dining areas.
Consistency is key
The work achieved by The Buchan Group draws inspiration from the surrounding urban grain and rustic essence of a traditional marketplace. The challenge was to achieve this same finish and aesthetic in signage design while staying true to the core branding principles set up by Vicinity Centres.
The finished signage concepts would have a much more rustic or industrial feel and Vicinity Centres needed the solution to maintain consistency with the rest of the centre.
Vicinity needed the finished signage concept to maintain consistency with the rest of the centre.

Diadem was engaged to provide bespoke concepts initially. Using the Vicinity Centres’ signage suite to maintain consistency with the wayfinding signage concepts for the Colonnades Fresh Food Precinct development.
The scope of this project included:
